About Post251

About the unit

Post251 is an experimental digital jazz unit formed by drummer and composer Nakamu and composer Shunya Ishikawa (Pami).

Philosophy

From the perspectives of rhythm and harmony, we aim to move beyond broadly applied conventions in music, including the ii–V–I progression. Crossing the boundary between acoustic and digital sound, we explore new possibilities for music.

How we formed

It all began around 2022, when drummer Nakamu mentioned Pami on X (Twitter) in response to a Bill Evans arrangement video that Pami had posted.
Later, they visited a jazz café in Shimokitazawa, and after one thing and another, Nakamu brought Pami into his university jazz society. That was where it all started…

In 2023, they collaborated on the big-band project 暁の楽団 (Dawn Brigade Orchestral Project). Listen to the release.

In mid-2024, Nakamu began working as a Vocaloid producer. This inspired the two to formally establish a production unit that crosses between acoustic and digital music. And so, in 2025, Post251 was born.
